Life and Death

We are born.We grow.We grow old. We die.No one really knows why we are born.No one really knows what happens when we die.So what is the point of this existence? Do you know?

What is the point of living? That is a big question to which all wisemen who’ve ever walked the earth and all the religions thus formulted have been trying to give an easy answer. In order to make it comprehensible to human beings, the matter tends to be conveyed in terms of principles and theories that are based on “forms”. Only people, who’ve attained the “ultimate enlightment”, precieve the answer behind the words. Only people who are absolutely enlighted know the secret of “knowing self”. And only by knowing “self” that the purpose of existence would come to you spontaneously. The secret of “knowing self” cannot be spoken of because it is not supposed to be expressed in words. Words are “forms” as they are so they cannot be used to speak of something that is not even formless. Secondly, it is like watching a “Hitchcock” movie, you’ll never ever know if you could guess the ending yourself if somebody told you before. So the enlightment attained this way is not your own, it is somebody else’s. The one who told you have actually ripped you off the chance of attaining absolute enlightment and living it out in this life. That is cruelty, that is also “doing the bad with good intention”.

So the wisemen and sages have had nothing to say really. So they used mataphors and analogy in Sutras and Bible, hoping by using words of forms they could lead you to the “way” of knowing self. These are good intentions but usually end up misleading because there is NO way. Sentient beings are normally so absorbed in forms that they cannot be dettached from it at all. They even dwell on the forms thus stated in the holly scripts so much that they become superstitious, thinking there is a formless “form of holiness and power” that creates and controls every being and happening in the universe(s).

So, you do not exist to make money, my friend, to lose it and to die without being able to bring it with you. You do not exist because you have to live for the ones you love, to raise kids and watch them staying away from you even before you die. They are all forms and appearances that are impermanent and fleeting. You exist for the purpose of “knowing self”. Knowing self can never be sought after either. Seeking is “doing”. “Self” is being. It would reveal itself to you only when you are ready.

To live, in the other words, is get yourself ready to percieve the abolute, ultimate truth of “self”. That is to say to cleanse your mind from the “evil thoughts” that has been accumulate during this life and those over previous lives. These evil thoughts originate from separation - to separate between self and others. Life of calamity would repeat itself over and over again if you do not relinquish separation or dualistic discrimination. Only freeing yourself from separation would “self” be able to expose itself to you. You can’t embrace dualistic discrimination and seek for “self’ at the same time. It won’t happen. So whenever you do anything upon anybody else, put yourself in that person’s position; whether he is a waiter at a resturant, a cleaner of the office or a garbage collector at your backdoor. “Treat others like yourself” as many sages have said. Only by giving yourself up totally would you be able to transcend your spirit to the same level of the infinite intelligence (God or Buddha) and “self” would dawn on you on its own will. Now, you have something to do with your own existence, don’t you?!
